LOCATION OF SALE
The saleground fronts onto the A142 at Sutton, approximately 6 miles west of Ely, Cambridgeshire and approximately 18 miles north of Cambridge.
The recommended approach from the North, West and South is via Huntingdon joining the A141 signposted to March at the junction of the A14/A141. At Chatteris, follow the A142 signposted to Ely and the Saleground will be seen on the left-hand side, opposite Sutton village. Access is gained from the roundabout off the A142 signposted “AGRICULTURAL AUCTION”.
If approaching from the East or the M11, follow the A10 and join the A142 signposted to March at Ely. Access is gained from the roundabout off the A142 signposted “AGRICULTURAL AUCTION”.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THE MINOR ROADS THAT RUN THROUGH THE VILLAGE OF SUTTON.
The nearest mainline railway station is at Ely, which links to Kings Cross.

BUYERS SERVICE CHARGE
Please note service charges are:
Class 1 items (ie. tractors, excavators, telescopics, large self propelled machinery etc): 2% of hammer price plus VAT
Class 2 items (all other items except vehicles): 2.5% of hammer price plus VAT
Class 3 items (vehicles): 5% of hammer price plus VAT
Minimum buyers service charge of £5 per lot + VAT.
PAYMENT
All items purchased must be paid for on the day of sale, immediately at the conclusion of the auction.
We will only accept the following payment methods:
1. Credit or debit card (subject to the conditions below)
2. Personal cheque (clearance of the cheque or bank guarantee required before goods leave, see below)
3. Bank/building society guaranteed cheque or draft
4. Sterling draft
5. Bank to bank transfer
6. Cash payment up to £7500.
In order to comply with the Money Laundering Regulations 2003, we are unable to accept cash payments for the sums in excess of £7500. This includes single payments amounting to this sum or multiple payments totalling £7500.
We are also unable to accept any cash payments paid directly into our bank account.
Cheque Payments
Purchasers wishing to pay by cheque with immediate clearance who are unknown to the Auctioneers must make one of the following arrangements before the day of sale:
1) Bring a letter to EACH AUCTION from your Bank addressed to Cambridge Machinery Sales confirming the amount up to which cheques can be accepted. The Letter should include the following:
a) Date of Auction
b) Your Account Number
c) Your Account Name
d) Amount of limit of Cheque
e) Authorised Bank Signature
This Letter should be given to our cashiers at the time of payment.
2) Arrange with your Bank Manager for the issue of a guaranteed cheque to be brought with you.
Failure to make the above arrangements will result in a delay of 5 to 7 working days upon presentation for the cheque to clear.
CREDIT CARD AND DEBIT CARD PAYMENT
We are able to accept VISA, DELTA and SWITCH credit and debit cards. Any others are not acceptable. A Surcharge of 2% is PAYABLE on all Credit Card transactions and all non UK Debit Cards.
OVERSEAS PAYMENTS
Should be made by Inter Bank transfer using SWIFT to
Barclays Bank, Mortlock House, Vision Park, Histon, Cambridge.

INVOICE ALTERATIONS
After the sale day, we are unable to change or amend any invoice(s). This includes changing the VAT status of the purchaser, name and address of the purchaser etc. Lots are also unable to be transferred between purchasers after the sale day. There will be no exception to this rule.
WARRANTIES AND GUARANTEES
All lots are sold “as seen” and no warranty or guarantee is given by the Auctioneers WHATSOEVER. All buyers must satisfy themselves as to the mechanical condition and suitability of any item prior to bidding.
PURCHASER NUMBER REGISTRATION
ALL NEW BUYERS MUST REGISTER FOR A BUYERS NUMBER PRIOR TO BIDDING AT THE AUCTION.
ALL NEW BUYERS OUTSIDE THE UK WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY A £2500 CASH DEPOSIT UPON REGISTRATION.
In order to obtain a buyers number, please attend the Sales Office and complete the required form. Photographic identity (e.g photographic driving licence) stating your address OR a passport AND utility bill will be required.
For EU VAT registered buyers, a copy of the relevant VAT registration certificate will be required to zero rate any purchases.
A FEE OF £20 IS PAYABLE UPON REGISTRATION.
BUYERS FROM E.C. COUNTRIES
Under the E.C. regulations, goods purchased at our Sale will be ZERO RATED for VAT purposes subject to ALL of the following conditions being met:-
1. The Auctioneers are in possession of your VAT/FISCAL NUMBER (which will be verified with UK Customs & Excise) at the time of purchase. All NEW Registered buyers must supply a copy of their VAT registration certificate prior to the goods being collected.
2. The Goods are sent or transported out of the UK to a destination in another EC Member State.
3. The Auctioneers receive valid commercial documentary evidence that the goods have been removed from the UK within three months of the date of the sale.
If you are not registered for VAT in your member state or are unable to provide us with any of the above information, VAT at the UK standard rate will be payable and WILL NOT BE RECLAIMABLE.
BUYERS FROM OUTSIDE THE E.C.
A VAT DEPOSIT equivalent to the standard rate of UK VAT (currently 20%) will be charged on all lots which are being exported outside the EC.
Refunds of VAT deposits will be dealt with under H.M. Customs and Excise regulations as set out in the current Notice 703. The minimum requirement of satisfactory evidence of export required to allow a refund is an original Bill of Lading or Certificate of Shipment issued by a recognised Shipping/Transport Company or a S.A.D stamped by Customs & Excise and clearly identifying the goods which have been exported.
PRESENTATION OF LOTS
The Auctioneers will use every endeavour to ensure that all Lots listed in the catalogue are presented for Sale, but cannot accept responsibility for any Lots not being presented. Nor can they entertain any claim for expenses incurred in abortive attendance at the Sale.
COLLECTION OF GOODS
All goods must be paid for before collection. All collection drivers must obtain a passout from the sales office before loading.
UNLOADING/LOADING ON SALE DAY
Unloading of tractors and self-propelled plant and machinery only is permitted on the morning of the sale between 7am to 9am.
Loading of tractors and self-propelled machinery is permitted from when the auction has finished to 5pm.
Limited loading of lots using our forklifts will be available, free of charge, from approximately 3pm to 5pm. Loading will be at the discretion of the auctioneers and we cannot guarantee all loading will be accommodated on the sale day. Please contact the office for further details.
ITEMS MARKED WITH AN “X”
Any item in the Sale marked with a Lot number followed by an “X” denotes that the description of that particular lot is different from the original lot as shown in this catalogue. This lot may be a replacement of the original as catalogued or there may be an alteration to its description. Therefore, any items marked with a lot number followed by an “X” must not be connected with the original lot number in the catalogue, and its description will be absolutely as given out by the Auctioneer at the time of Sale. The addition of an “X” to a lot will cancel the original entry in the catalogue.

Any hour, milometer or kilometer readings recorded on any lot or mentioned in this catalogue cannot be guaranteed.
NOTICE TO BUYERS
DUPLICATE V5 REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS
Unfortunately, vendors are sometimes unable to provide the V5 Registration Documents for tractors and other road registered lots which have been sold in our auctions.
Providing such lots have previously been registered and have a registration number, we are able to apply for a duplicate Registration Document on behalf of the purchaser. A fee of £50 per application will be charged for this service.
IMPORTANT NOTICES
HEALTH AND SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
The auction sale includes items of WORKING MACHINERY and those person attending are advised to take all reasonable precautions to avoid accidents.
We have a duty to increase safety for both our staff and the public wherever possible and the following precautions must be adhered to by all those entering the saleground.
1. No tractors or machinery to be left running. Vendors and Purchasers MUST AT ALL TIMES MAINTAIN SUPERVISION OF SUCH MACHINERY AND VEHICLES when left running.
2. Please keep children under supervision at all times. NO DOGS ALLOWED.
3. Do not drive tractors around the sale yard other than for the purposes of loading or unloading.
4. The speed limit in the saleground for ALL VEHICLES is 5mph. Be aware of pedestrians.
5. Do not smoke in the vicinity of the building, tractors or engines.
6. All loader arms to be lowered and contents of buckets emptied.
7. If starting tractors across the solenoid, please ensure two people are present, one person being in the driving seat having control of the clutch and brakes, and that the tractor is in neutral.
8. Prior to unloading, please check brakes, clutch and position of the engine stop.
These rules applies to everybody, with no exceptions and it will be strongly enforced.

FARM SAFETY REGULATIONS
THE ATTENTION OF PURCHASERS of Agricultural Tractors & Machinery is drawn to the provision of the HEALTH & SAFETY AT WORK, ETC. ACT 1974, the AGRICULTURE (FIELD MACHINERY) REGULATIONS 1962, AGRICULTURAL (TRACTOR CABS) REGULATIONS 1974, & ALL OTHER ACTS & REGULATIONS APPLICABLE TO FARM SAFETY. Purchasers are reminded of the provisions of the above Acts regarding the safety guarding of Machinery and Implements, and that some of the machinery sold at this sale may not immediately comply with the Regulations issued thereunder. It is an offence to use any machinery which does not comply with the Regulations laid down in the Acts and Regulations, and accordingly it is a Condition of the Contract of Sale relating to such machines and implements, as he shall purchase, before use of the same.
