Description:

6ins scale Burrell Steam Wagon, double crank compound, three speeds. 200psi. This unique wagon is a totally accurate half size replica of Burrell 3793, one of the first of the more successful single chain wagons and supplied new in 1918 to Malcolm Atwell, a Somerset contractor. This 6ins wagon was built to Burrell works drawings by the master model engineer Roy Butcher of Lakenheath, Suffolk over a ten year period. The attention to detail is superb, it is a one off engine with the correct compound cylinder block which is smaller than the Gold Medal tractor block. Running at 200 psi, it is a very lively performer and it sits on the authentic Bauley wooden wheels constructed from English oak, shod with solid rubber tyres. The wagon is finished in Crimson Lake with correct Burrell lining, the sign writing in 22 carat gold leaf depicting the name of the original owner was undertaken by Phil Anderson from Co Durham. The ten year hydraulic test was completed on 4th December 2018 and the condition of the boiler and firebox is excellent. Beautiful to look at, the wagon will happily keep up with a Burrell road loco on the road, video of the Wagon in action is available on our website. Complete with a full set of Burrell drawings and photographic build record.  Estimate £65,000 - £80,000 Buyer's Premium 6% +VAT
